Yellow Boat of Hope Foundation Indonesia is a non-profit organization who are committed to bridging access to education and basic needs for families living in some of the country’s most remote islands and coastal areas. By providing school boats and clean water solutions, we empower children to reach school safely and support communities in building healthier, more sustainable futures.
Many children in remote islands must travel long and dangerous routes just to reach school — some even have to swim or use unsafe boats.
Communities in coastal and remote areas often lack access to clean and safe drinking water, posing serious health risks, especially for children.
Many isolated regions in Indonesia still lack essential infrastructure such as transportation, sanitation, and healthcare, which hampers education and overall well-being.
We provide safe and reliable school boats so children in island and coastal communities can travel to school without risking their lives. This ensures consistent school attendance and a better future for them.
We build and install clean water facilities like rainwater harvesting systems and water filtration units, empowering communities to have sustainable access to safe drinking water.
We partner with local leaders to improve basic infrastructure including transportation, sanitation, and community-based support programs that enhance overall health, education, and sustainability.
The Yellow Boat of Hope Foundation Indonesia (Yayasan Perahu Kuning Harapan) is a non-profit organization that aims to provide access to education for children in remote and poverty-stricken areas by providing boats to reach their schools. Began as School Boat Indonesia in 2015 when Meralda (co-founder) learned about the struggles of children in a coastal community in the Kerora Village, Rinca Island who had to separate with their families to get closer to the high school. In June 2023, School Boat Indonesia achieved a significant milestone by officially becoming a registered foundation and an official chapter of the Yellow Boat of Hope organization in the Philippines.
