Our Story

The Yellow Boat of Hope Foundation is a non-profit organization in the Philippines that aims to provide access to education for children in remote and impoverished areas by supplying boats to help them reach school. The foundation's story began in 2010 when a group of friends learned about the struggles of children in a coastal community on the Zamboanga Peninsula who had to swim to school. The group decided to provide yellow boats so these children could attend school safely and comfortably. We were inspired by the concept of the yellow school bus and applied it to water.

Since then, the Yellow Boat of Hope Foundation has expanded its reach to other parts of the Philippines, supplying boats to children in various coastal and remote communities. These boats, painted bright yellow, not only serve as a means of transportation but also symbolize hope and a brighter future for the children.

The foundation's journey has not been without challenges. We have faced logistical issues in delivering boats to hard-to-reach areas and financial constraints in funding our projects. Nevertheless, the Yellow Boat of Hope Foundation has persevered, even partnering with organizations and individuals who share the same vision of providing educational access to children in remote areas.

One of the foundation's most significant contributions is providing education to children attending public schools in remote areas. Many of these schools lack basic facilities and resources, and students often have to travel long distances to get to class. The foundation's boats enable children to safely cross rivers and reach their schools without fear of danger or exhaustion.

In addition to providing boats, the Yellow Boat of Hope Foundation also organizes various programs to support the education of children in the communities it serves. We provide school supplies, run feeding programs, and offer scholarships to high-achieving students.

These efforts have had a positive impact on the lives of thousands of children and their families, giving them hope for a better future through education.

In conclusion, the Yellow Boat of Hope Foundation’s journey from the waves to the classroom is an extraordinary one, showing how a simple idea can make a significant difference in the lives of those in need.

The foundation’s efforts have proven that with determination and a clear vision, it is possible to bring hope to remote communities and public schools in far-flung areas, and to provide access to education for those who need it most.

Founder’s Story

Every child has the right to dream, but not all are given the opportunity. Many grow up in poverty, forced to work instead of attending school. Without education, children lack the skills, opportunities, and hope needed to change their future.

At Yellow Boat of Hope, we believe that access to education can break this cycle. But we also understand that classrooms alone are not enough to get children into school. That’s why we support entire communities — tackling barriers such as transportation, hunger, and lack of livelihood, so families are empowered to keep their children in school.

With the help of volunteers, partners, and kind-hearted supporters, we deliver real solutions to long-neglected places. Because when even one child is given the chance to finish school, they can uplift their entire community with them.

Our philosophy is best described by the following quote:

The great thing a little lamp can do which the big sun cannot do is to give light at night. It shows no one is superior by size but by purpose. If we cannot do great things, we can do small things in a great way. Little things make a big difference to God.
